Summer Card Camp 2 Week 3 Day 1

Hello Stampers :) I have a quick second post tonight for you just to show you the homework I completed for Summer Card Camp 2. This card was put together with the inspiration of sketch #3 in class and using all the colors in our color swatch for the week. I started by taking a 4x5 piece of kraft card stock and made an awesome background using Tim Holtz Distress Stains in Dusty Concord, Seedless Preserves, and Walnut Stain. Then after drying these, I added a few spritzes of Heidi Swapp's Color Shine in teal. I was immediately tickled with the results!!

After placing my card stock and background I stamped and embossed the word "hello" from the Hero Arts Studio Calico "Frames and Feathers" set. After adding the twine, I realized I the card actually looked awesome either direction...Which way do you like it best?  Enjoy :)

Shabby Chic

Ok...I admit it! I am a huge fan of all things shabby chic. Everything is so feminine and pretty. I am a huge sucker for florals of all kinds, especially roses. A few months back, I ordered a skin for my Ipad. Being A mother of four boys, I didn't hear the end of it when they saw what kind of skin I ordered. It's very shabby chic and my boys kept teasing me about how it looks like my iPod belonged to a Granny now. What do you think?

It may look like a Granny cover but I love it .... And just the other day my 16 year old niece commented on how cute she thought it was....so maybe its just a guy thing? Anyway, you're probably wondering where I'm going with this.....believe it or not, it's just the intro to my next card. It's a little shabby chic and a whole lot pretty!! It was made using mostly products from My Favorite Things and is now one of my favorite things. I hope it's becomes one of yours as well! Enjoy :)

Summer Card Camp Week 2 Day 4

Hello Stampers :)...
Sorry its been so long since my previous post. I've been truly enjoying the Summer Card Camp 2 and have been extremely busy with the hubby home 24/7..so I barely get time to make my cards, let alone blog about them.

I have made several cards in the last week or so but today I'm going to share with you the card I made from today's class. The idea behind this card was to use holiday stamps for another purpose other than for a holiday card. Since I've only been card crafting for a few months, I haven't built up much on the holiday side of things. I did however buy a few sets on clearance a couple months ago, which mainly consist of one of my favorite companies...Lawn Fawn!! Since I didn't have much to work with, my card is pretty generic, but I used the tree stamps from Lawn Fawn's "Let it Snow" set as a background for my card. I used Unicorn ink from Hero Arts to ghost stamp the first image and then used peeled paint and pine needles distress ink for the trees, vintage photo for the sentiment, and antique linen to distress the cream colored card stock I layered underneath. Then I used the fox and the racoon from the "Critters in the Forest" set, also made by Lawn Fawn, and colored them with copic markers. It may be generic, but I think it turned out as cute as can be!!! Enjoy :)

Summer Card Camp 2 Day #3

I had so much fun making today's cards. The first card was another try at a banner card. I used the "ALWAYS" die cut from Simon Says Stamp and embossed the words "thinking of you" underneath from the "ALWAYS STAMP SET", also from Simon Says Stamp. Underneath the sentiment I lined up a rainbow of matching polka dot ribbon to add some fun!

The second card was made from a new set to me from one of my favorite stamp companies: Lawn Fawn! I just love how this one turned out! I used some soft shadow inks to make a background from the TV stamp from the set "STAY TUNED".... and from the same set I stamped the sentiment "tuning in to say hi", only I masked off the hi on the set and put a "hi" sticker that I received in the SSS July monthly card kit instead on the TV that I popped out with 3d foam. I just adore how this card turned out. I love the colors, the stamps, EVERYTHING!!!!

Please leave a comment below and let me know what you think and what you've been working on this week and one lucky follower will win a surprise stamp set at the end of the week! ENJOY :)

The Hubs is Home!

Hello Stampers, This last week has been an awesome one. On the 4th of July, my dear husband finally came home after five long months away working on a contract in the Middle East. What a wonderful day for him to return home as we celebrate our country's freedom that he helps defend today and everyday. The kids and I have so enjoyed every minute we have been able to spend with him and luckily he will be around for a few weeks which makes me one very happy card crafter!

Today also marks the first day of the Summer Card Camp 2 classes brought by Simon Says Stamp along with designers: Kristina Werner and Jennifer Werner. Being new to the stamping and paper crafting world, this is only my second set of online classes that I've been a part of. There is so much to learn, and so many ways to get to know others as you share what you've taken away from class by posting pictures of the cards you make that go along with the color scheme and sketches that are given out each week. Class members can comment on each post and in doing this is helps encourage each crafter to try new things and have fun doing it! I was able to make three cards today that go along with this week's sketches and color combos. I was having so much fun, I just kept going :). Although I cant share what we've learned I can share with you my individual cards. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment below and there just may be a giveaway at the end of this first week of class.

Enjoy!

Hello my fellow stampers! This is the card I chose to make on day two of Summer Card Camp. I used distress inks in peacock feathers, dried marigold, and mustard seed for the background streaks. Then for the stamped flower image from Hero Arts, I used distress inks again in the colors mowed lawn and worn lipstick. I absolute love this stamp and have been waiting for a wave of inspiration so I can use it. Today, after watching Shari Carroll's video and the new technique she taught, I couldn't wait to get started. I hope you like it as much as I do!! Please don't forget to leave a comment on this or any other of my cards posted this week...There is a surprise stamp set up for grabs at the end of the week for one random follower..... Enjoy!!
